Why Perfect Posture?
Patients who complete The SOAR Method report a wide variety of effects:

  • better posture
  • pain relief
  • growth spurts (up to 2"!)
  • increased alertness
  • more energy
  • fewer headaches

Here's how:

Poor posture causes a wide variety of health problems.
  • Back Pain
  • Neck Pain
  • Shallow Breathing
  • Poor Digestion
  • Foggyheadedness
  • Fatigue
  • Hip and knee pain
  • Vertigo

The back and neck pain are easy to see: hunching puts strain on parts of the spine that aren't designed to hold it.

Check out our Before & After page- there are some great examples of necks that are holding too much weight in the wrong places. It makes sense that poor posture causes back and neck problems, but it goes a lot deeper than that.

Hunching→ Raised Diaphragm→Shallow Breathing→ Not Enough Oxygen in the Muscles and Brain→ Weak muscles, fatigue

Standing up straight→ Relaxed Diaphragm→ Full Breaths→ Oxygenation→ Strong muscles, Increased Energy!

Hunching over prevents the body from taking a full breath. The resulting shallow breathing causes reduced oxygenation throughout the body, in the muscles and the brain. This, in turn, leads to fatigue, fuzzy-headedness and reduced energy. It also compromises your muscle performance, since muscles require oxygen to function properly. Standing up straight causes the diaphragm to drop and breathing to return to normal.

Furthermore, slouching presses down on the internal organs, making it more difficult for them to perform their important functions. Digestion is particularly affected by poor posture. Standing up straight allows them to function at 100%. Of course, if your body isn't used to standing up straight, it will be unable to maintain that position for any length of time.

Enter The SOAR Method for Perfect Posture™. The SOAR Method naturally and gently trains the body to stand up straight by strengthening the muscles in the abdomen and back that allow us to have perfect posture. Dr. Marr recommends completing The SOAR Method 3x a week, and after doing so, patients find themselves sitting and standing up straight and tall without even thinking about it: their muscles have learned how to do it. Slumping over begins to feel unnatural.

Once the body is able to stand up straight all the time, the entire body, from your brain to your feet will perform better and, most importantly, feel better.
